UB Stadium was actually first built for a lower division program in 1991, and was
eventually expanded to just over 29,000 seats to elevate the facility to division 1 status.
It was also the host venue for many track and field events and the closing ceremonies
for the World University Games in 1993
The UB Bulls joined the Mid American Conference in 1999, and was has played in this
facility throughout its entire tenure in that league. The team had a magical run to the
MAC Championship in 2008, which they won and then went on to the International
Bowl that year. The team celebrates this one moment in its modern history with
championship banners in each end zone, nice displays in the concourse and a
display of its championship trophy leading to its fieldhouse..
That being said, the stadium is actually a horrible place to watch football. Doubling as
a track and field venue, the eight lane track surrounding the football field means that
the four grandstands are far, far away from the field. Couple that with the gigantic end
zone seating which are almost always empty, the place lacks electricity and energy.
In true Buffalo tradittion, local fans here do tailgate, especially in the warmer weather.
The sprawling UB campus has massive parking lots right near the stadium, parking is
free. As far as inside the stadium fare, it is pretty much ballpark dreck, augmented
with Red Osier roast beef, grilled brats and that;s about it
